The 20-year-old, on-loan at the German second-tier club from Premier League Arsenal, posted a video of the incident on Instagram which shows him visibly distraught and talking to the referee before walking off the pitch.

"#SayNoToRacism! VfL Bochum vehemently condemns all forms of racism. Jordi, we stand behind you," Bochum said in a statement here

St Gallen made a statement on Twitter.

"FC St Gallen makes clear that it strongly condemns all forms of racism and discrimination. Corresponding misconduct would be immediately sanctioned," the club said here

Arsenal said they were “working closely” with Bochum and Osei-Tutu.

“We are giving him our full support. Racism has no place in our game and we do not tolerate any form of discrimination,” the club said in a statement.

Osei-Tutu said he was “disappointed” that he was a victim.

“No one should ever be subject to any discrimination and it is really hard to understand how a fellow professional footballer could do this,” he said.

“Arsenal and Bochum have provided great support to me and I hope that if nothing else, we can show that racism has no place within football.”
