NHC says 80% chance of cyclone near Wilmington, North Carolina

July 8 (Reuters) - An area of low pressure located about 60 miles (96.5 km) east-southeast of Wilmington, North Carolina, has an 80% chance of becoming a cyclone in the next 48 hours, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said on Wednesday.

“The low is expected to move northeastward near or just offshore of the North Carolina outer banks on Thursday, and then turn north-northeastward and move along the mid-Atlantic coast on Friday,” the Miami-based weather forecaster said.
