Germany says it will only assess Italy's budget once Rome presents it to EU

BERLIN (Reuters) - The German government will only assess Italy’s budget plans once Rome has submitted them to Brussels, a spokeswoman for the German Finance Ministry said on Friday.

The Italian government has already issued the financial targets that will provide the framework for its budget, drawing fire from the European Commission for plans to triple the previous fiscal deficit goal for 2019.
