Marathon says restarting units idled at Galveston Bay refinery

HOUSTON (Reuters) - Marathon Petroleum Corp (MPC.N) began restarting units idled by Tropical Storm Harvey at its 459,000 barrel per day (bpd) Galveston Bay refinery in Texas City, Texas, on Wednesday, the company said.

“MPC would like to clarify that units that had been briefly idled (Tuesday) at its Galveston Bay refinery began restarting earlier (Wednesday) and will increase throughput as pipeline and other transportation logistics continue to improve,” said Marathon spokesman Jamal Kheiry.

Marathon began restarting units early on Wednesday, sources familiar with plant operations told Reuters.
