SHANNON, Ireland (Reuters) - The United States is on track to implement threatened 5 percent tariffs on Mexican goods on Monday, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said on Friday as migration talks with Mexican officials continued in Washington.
“Our position is still the same and we’re moving forward with the tariffs. They’ll go into effect on Monday,” Sanders told reporters in Ireland as President Donald Trump prepared to return home from a European trip. “They’ve made a lot of progress over the course of the last few days. The meetings have gone well but we’re still on track for tariffs on Monday.”
