BERLIN, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Germany is willing to work together with U.S. President-elect Joe Biden and take over more responsibility in areas where Washington may wish to scale back its engagement, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said on Monday.
“The signal to Washington is clear: We are prepared not only to cooperate, but also to talk about Europe and Germany assuming a larger share of responsibility in fields where the United States may no longer wish to be as engaged as in the past,” Maas said.
“But this discussion must not be narrowed down to military issues only,” he added. (Reporting by Sabine Siebold and Kirsti Knolle; editing by Thomas Seythal)
