Illinois House adjourns with no major public pension reform

SPRINGFIELD, Ill., May 31 (Reuters) - Illinois’ huge public pension funding problem was left unsolved on Friday after the Democrat-controlled House and Senate failed to reach a deal on comprehensive reform.

House Speaker Michael Madigan adjourned his chamber’s spring session, while a spokeswoman for Senate President John Cullerton said the upper chamber would not take any further action on the pension bills before a midnight deadline.
