Macron tells Trump steel imports from EU not national security threat

PARIS (Reuters) - French President Emmanuel Macron told President Donald Trump in a phone call on Tuesday the United States could not consider imports of EU steel and aluminium a threat to national security and impose tariffs on them, the French presidency said.

Macron also underline the need to strengthen international trade rules to guarantee fair competition in world trade, the Elysee said in a statement.
