Australian packaging maker Orora Ltd <ORA.AX> said Thursday it will sell its local fiber materials business to Japan's Nippon Paper Industries <3863.T> for A$1.72 billion ($1.15 billion), simplifying its operations and sending its shares up 20%.
Japanese stocks edged up on Tuesday morning as the yen eased back against the dollar, although trading volumes were low as a holiday in the United States left investors short of the usual leads.
