June 14 (Reuters) - Royal Dutch Shell PLC ::SHELL ENERGY PAYS £390,000 AFTER OVERCHARGING.SHELL ENERGY RETAIL TO REFUND, COMPENSATE AROUND 12,000 CUSTOMER ACCOUNTS IT OVERCHARGED ON DEFAULT TARIFFS WHEN PRICE CAP INTRODUCED.TO RECTIFY FAILINGS SHELL ENERGY RETAIL, TRADING UNDER FIRST UTILITY AT TIME OF BREACH, AGREED TO REFUND AFFECTED CUSTOMERS.SUPPLIER WILL PAY £200,000 TO OFGEM'S CONSUMER REDRESS FUND, EQUATING TO A TOTAL PAYMENT OF £390,000.PRICE CAP MONITORING FOUND BETWEEN JAN-MARCH 2019 SHELL ENERGY OVERCHARGED 12,000 ELECTRICITY AND GAS CUSTOMER ACCOUNTS £100,736.63.DECIDED NOT TO TAKE FORMAL ENFORCEMENT ACTION AFTER SHELL ENERGY RETAIL TAKEN STEPS TO ADDRESS FAILINGS AND REDRESS IT AGREED TO PAY.
