Daniel Amos

Mr. Daniel P. Amos is Chairman of the Board, President, Chief Executive Officer of the Company. Mr. Amos has been Chief Executive Officer of the Company and Aflac since 1990, Chairman since 2001, President of Aflac from July 2017 to May 2018, and President of Aflac Incorporated since February 2018. He has spent 40 years in various positions at Aflac. Institutional Investor magazine has named Mr. Amos one of America’s Best CEOs in the life insurance category five times. Harvard Business Review has named Mr. Amos among the World’s Best Performing CEOs in each of the past four years. CR Magazine recently honored him with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedication to corporate responsibility. Mr. Amos’ experience and approach deliver insightful expertise and guidance to the Board of Directors on topics relating to corporate governance, people management, and risk management.

Eric Kirsch

Mr. Eric M. Kirsch is a Executive Vice President, Global Chief Investment Officer, Aflac and President of Aflac Asset Management LLC of Aflac, a subsidiary Company of company. Before joining Aflac, Kirsch most recently served as managing director and global head of insurance asset management, including portfolio management, insurance advisory services and distribution at Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM). Kirsch was recruited by GSAM to create a dedicated global insurance business. In that capacity, he managed a global team of more than 55 professionals and was instrumental in elevating GSAM's reputation as a top insurance asset manager. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, he spent 27 combined years at Deutsche Asset Management (DeAM) and Bankers Trust Company, most recently serving as managing director and global head of insurance asset management. At DeAM, Kirsch was responsible for a staff of more than 100 people including teams in North America, Europe and Asia and oversaw total insurance assets of more than $150 billion while a member of the Global Operating Committee of DeAM. Prior to this, Kirsch served as managing director and head of North America Fixed Income, responsible for more than $150 billion of assets across institutional and retail clients and multiple fixed income investment strategies. He also previously served as vice president and stable value portfolio manager at Bankers Trust Company. Kirsch received a bachelor of business administration in business and finance from Baruch College in 1984, and a master's of business administration from Pace University in 1988. He earned his CFA designation in 1990.

Virgil Miller

Mr. Virgil R. Miller is Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, Aflac U.S. and President of Aflac Group of the Company. Miller joined Aflac's management team in 2004 after working in leadership in the property and casualty industry. He was promoted to positions of increasing responsibility, including senior manager in Client Services; second vice president of Policy Service and the Customer Service Center; and vice president of Customer Assurance and Aflac's Transformation Office. In 2015, Miller was promoted to senior vice president of Internal Operations and later named chief administrative officer, head of Aflac Group in 2016. Most recently, he held the position of senior vice president and chief administrative officer of Aflac U.S. Miller served as a U.S. Marine and is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Georgia College and a master's degree in business management from Wesleyan College. He serves on the board of trustees for Claflin University, the Palmetto Health Foundation Board, the 2017 Group Insurance Executive Council and the Columbia Urban League. He is a former board member of the American Red Cross and the United Way Board of Trustees.

Albert Riggieri

Mr. Albert A. Riggieri is Senior Vice President - Global, Chief Risk Officer and Chief Actuary of the Company. Richard Gilbert

Robert Ruff

Mr. Robert Ruff is Senior Vice President - Strategic Growth of the Company. Ruff brings more than a decade of leadership experience in the employee benefits industry to Aflac. For the past three years, he served as vice president of Core Market Underwriting at Unum. In this capacity, he was responsible for driving profitable growth in the segment of employers with less than 2,000 employees. Prior to that, Ruff held positions of increasing responsibility at Colonial Life, most recently serving as vice president of Broker Market Services, where he was accountable for driving profitable growth in the broker segment nationally; leading the national accounts segment; and benefits administration technology partnerships. Ruff holds a Bachelor of Science from Virginia Tech and a Master of Business Administration from Clemson University.

Stephanie Shields

Ms. Stephanie L. Shields is Senior Vice President - Aflac U.S. Broker Sales of the Company. Shields joined Aflac in 2014 as vice president of Strategy, Product and Marketing. In this capacity, her responsibilities included oversight and execution of the business strategy for the Aflac Group Insurance division; development of roadmaps for differentiated product solutions; and leadership of broker, product and enrollment marketing efforts. Most recently, as vice president of Aflac's Premier Broker and Product Solutions, she led distribution growth and national relationship oversight for Aflac's Premier Broker and Technology firm partnerships. Prior to joining Aflac, Shields held positions of increasing responsibility with CIGNA, including the role of vice president, Cigna Voluntary Segment Leader. Prior to that, she worked forWillis Towers Watson in Philadelphia, Pa. Shields holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Bio behavioral Health from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Drexel University.

Mr. Bowers has been chairman, president and chief executive officer of Georgia Power, the largest subsidiary of Southern Company, since 2011. Before that, Mr. Bowers served as chief financial officer of Southern Company from 2008 to 2010. Previously, he served in various senior executive positions across Southern Company in Southern Company Generation, Southern Power, and the company’s former U.K. subsidiary, where he was president and chief executive officer of South Western Electricity LLC/Western Power Distribution.

Toshihiko Fukuzawa

Mr. Toshihiko Fukuzawa is Independent Director of the Company. Mr. Fukuzawa has been the president and chief executive officer of Chuo Real Estate Co., Ltd., a real estate development and leasing company in Japan, since July 2018. Previously, he was the president and chief executive officer of Yushu Tatemono Co., Ltd., also a real estate development and leasing company in Japan, from June 2015 to June 2018. He served as deputy president and a representative director at Mizuho Trust & Banking Co., Ltd. from April 2013 to March 2015, managing executive officer and head of the IT System Group at Mizuho Bank Ltd. from June 2011 to March 2013, and deputy president and a representative director at Mizuho Information & Research Institute from June 2009 to June 2011. From 2002 to 2011, he held executive officer and general manager positions at Mizuho Bank, Ltd., part of Mizuho Financial Group, Inc. Mr. Fukuzawa held various positions of increasing responsibility at Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank, Ltd., which he joined in 1979.

Robert Johnson

Mr. Robert B. Johnson is an Independent Director of the Company. Mr. Johnson retired from Porter Novelli PR, where he was a senior advisor from 2003 until 2014. Until 2008, he served as chairman and CEO of the One America Foundation, an organization that promotes dialogue and solidarity among Americans of all races and provides education, grants, and technical equipment to disadvantaged youth. Before that, he served in President Clinton’s administration as an assistant to the President and director of the President’s initiative for One America. He served two years in the Carter Administration, and then was the Business Regulations Administrator for Washington, D.C.

Thomas Kenny

Mr. Thomas J. Kenny is Independent Director of Company. Mr. Kenny has served as a TIAA-CREF Funds Board trustee since 2011, and as chair of the board since September 2017. He recently served as chair of the TIAA-CREF Funds Investment Committee and on the TIAA-CREF Funds Operations Committee. Prior to his role at TIAA-CREF, Mr. Kenny held a variety of leadership positions at Goldman Sachs for twelve years, most recently serving as partner and advisory director. He also served as co-head of the Global Cash and Fixed Income Portfolio team at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where he was responsible for overseeing the management of more than $600 billion in assets across multiple strategies with teams in London, Tokyo, and New York. Before joining Goldman Sachs, Mr. Kenny spent thirteen years at Franklin Templeton. He is a CFA charter holder.

Karole Lloyd

Ms. Karole F. Lloyd is an Independent Director of the Company. Ms. Lloyd is a certified public accountant and retired as vice chair and managing partner for Ernst & Young, LLP, a global accounting firm, in December 2016. She brings more than 37 years of work experience and leadership, most recently as part of the board of Ernst & Young, and has extensive experience in the audits of large financial services, insurance, and health care companies. She has served as an audit partner for publicly held companies in both the United States and Canada. Ms. Lloyd’s other experience includes leadership and consulting with respect to financial reporting, board governance and legal matters, regulatory compliance, internal audit, and risk management.

Joseph Moskowitz

Mr. Joseph L. Moskowitz is an Independent Director of the company. Mr. Moskowitz retired from Primerica, Inc., an insurance and investments company, where he served as executive vice president from 2009 until 2014, leading the Product Economics and Financial Analysis Group. He joined Primerica in 1988, and served in various capacities, including managing the group responsible for financial budgeting, capital management support, earnings analysis, and analyst and stockholder communications support. He served as chief actuary from 1999 to 2004. Before joining Primerica, Mr. Moskowitz was vice president of Sun Life Insurance Company from 1985 to 1988 and was a senior manager at KPMG from 1979 to 1985.

Barbara Rimer

Dr. Barbara K. Rimer, DrPH., is an Independent Director of the Company. Dr. Rimer has been dean of the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health since 2005, and alumni distinguished professor since 2003. Previously, she was director of the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences at the National Cancer Institute. She is a former director of Cancer Control Research and professor of community and family medicine at the Duke University School of Medicine. She was elected to the Institute of Medicine in 2008.

Katherine Rohrer

Dr. Katherine T. Rohrer is Independent Director of the Company. Dr. Rohrer is vice provost emeritus, Princeton University, having served as vice provost for Academic Programs from 2001 until 2015. Prior to assuming this role, starting in 1988, Dr. Rohrer held several senior leadership positions at Princeton University, including associate dean of the faculty and assistant dean of the college. Following her retirement, she served as interim associate dean of the graduate school in 2016-17. At Columbia University, she was an assistant professor from 1982 to 1988. Dr. Rohrer is also a trustee of Emory University, where she chairs the academic affairs committee and serves on the finance and executive committees.

Melvin Stith

Dr. Melvin T. Stith, Ph.D., is an Independent Director of the Company. Dr. Stith is interim president of Norfolk State University and dean emeritus of the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University, having served as dean from 2005 until 2013. Prior to assuming this role, Dr. Stith was the dean emeritus and the Jim Moran Professor of Business Administration at Florida State University for thirteen years. He has been a professor of marketing and business since 1977 following his service as a captain in the U.S. Army Military Intelligence Command.
