Biographies

Name Description

Matthias Huenlein

Mr. Matthias Huenlein serves as Independent Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Company. He received a law degree from the University of Passau, Germany. He began his professional career with Deutsche Bank Group. Among other positions he worked for DB Real Estate Management GmbH and as managing director of DB Real Estate Spezial Invest GmbH, where he was responsible for product development and client relationships. In November 2005, Mr. Matthias Hünlein joined Tishman Speyer Properties Deutschland GmbH where he is responsible, as managing director, for client relationships and capital raising activities in Europe.

Michael Zahn

Mr. Michael Zahn serves as Chairman of the Management Board, Chief Executive Officer of the Company. He is a graduated as an economist from the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg im Breisgau in 1992. Whilst working, he then completed post-graduate courses of study in corporate real estate management and chartered surveying at the European Business School in Oestrich-Winkel. He was appointed to the Management Board on 1st September 2007 and appointed as spokesperson for the Management Board in October 2007. In December 2008, Michael Zahn was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Deutsche Wohnen. As Chief Executive Officer he is responsible for the strategic direction of the Deutsche Wohnen Group. In this role, he manages Strategy, Asset Management, M&A/Disposals, Corporate Communication, Human Resources, Marketing, IT, Procurement and Nursing & Assisted Living. From January till end of December 2014, Mr Zahn was appointed as CEO of GSW Immobilien AG. From June 2015 till 2018, he was chairman of the supervisory board of GSW. Furthermore, he is active in various associations; for example, he sits on the Economic Board of the CDU party, Berlin (chairman of the federal Expert Commission Construction, Real Estate and Smart Cities) and is member of the advisory board of the Füchse Berlin Handball GmbH, Berlin. Overall, Mr Zahn has more than 20 years of management experience in the property sector in a variety of shareholder structures – including private equity, banking and the publicly listed companies.

Andreas Kretschmer

Dr. Andreas Kretschmer serves as Independent Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Company. He studied economics with a focus on auditing/accounting and further started a second course of studies in law at the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. In 1977, he received a Ph.D. in economics from the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany. From 1973 to 1992, Dr. Kretschmer worked at Dresdner Bank, where he held leading positions, including executive assistant and director of corporate customer service. Dr. Kretschmer was active both nationally and internationally during his work at Dresdner Bank. During 1991 and 1992, he also worked as Head of Finances to the governmental agency privatizing eastern German property (Treuhandanstalt). In 1992, Dr. Kretschmer joined Ärzteversorgung Westfalen-Lippe (the pension scheme for physicians in Westphalia-Lippe) as managing director of capital investment and served as CEO from January 1, 2009 to March 31, 2017. Besides his mandate in Deutsche Wohnen’s Supervisory Board Mr. Andreas Kretschmer is trustee of LVM (Landwirtschaftlicher Versicherungsverein Münster a.G.) in Münster.

Philip Grosse

Mr. Philip Grosse serves as Chief Financial Officer, Member of the Management Board of the Company. He is a graduated from his studies in Business Administration with a focus in Banking and Finance at the University of Wurzburg in 1996. During the course of his studies he completed a scholarship between 1993 and 1994 at the European Business Management School in Swansea, Great Britain. From 1997 to 2012 Philip Grosse worked in the investment banking sector in Frankfurt and London, most recently as Managing Director and Head of Equity Capital Markets Germany & Austria at Credit Suisse. He has worked in leading positions for the Deutsche Wohnen group with emphasis on Corporate Finance and Investor Relations since 2013. Philip Grosse was appointed a member of the Management Board of the Deutsche Wohnen as of 1st September 2016. As Chief Financial Officer he is responsible for Corporate Finance & Treasury, Accounting, Tax, Risk Management, Investor Relations, Legal/Compliance and Controlling. Since May 2015 Philip Grosse is Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Board of GEHAG GmbH and since June 2015 member of the Supervisory Board of GSW Immobilien AG and since June 2018 its chairman.

Lars Urbansky

Mr. Lars Urbansky serves as Chief Operating Officer, Member of the Management Board of the Company. He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Real Estate at the University of Applied Sciences in Gelsenkirchen in 2006. From 1996 to 2008 he worked for GEHAG GmbH in Berlin. Towards the end of his time there he was Head of Controlling. Since 2008, he has worked in senior positions for the Deutsche Wohnen Group. From 2008 to 2013 he was Head of Portfolio Management. Between 2009 and 2012, this position also included the areas of sales and acquisitions. From 2014 until now, he is managing director of Deutsche Wohnen Immobilien Management GmbH and is responsible for the service network of the Deutsche Wohnen Group throughout Germany. The responsibilities of this position also include the entire letting process and both commercial and technical estate management services. As of 1 April 2019, Lars Urbansky was appointed as a member of the Management Board of Deutsche Wohnen SE. He has responsibility for the areas of Property Management, Rent Development and Customer Service. Mr Urbansky has been a member of the Supervisory Board of GEHAG GmbH since March 2010. Since March 2015 he has also been chairman of this body. In October 2019, Lars Urbansky was appointed a member of the Management Board and Chief Executive Officer of GSW Immobilien AG. Overall, Lars Urbansky has more than 20 years of management experience in the property sector.

Henrik Thomsen

Mr. Henrik Thomsen serves as Chief Development Officer, Member of the Management Board of the Company. He completed his engineering studies at the Odense Teknikum, Denmark in 1991 as a graduate engineer. In 2002 he also earned a degree in Real Estate Economics from the European Business School in Berlin. Henrik Thomsen has many years of management experience in the field of urban quarter and project developments. Between 1992 and 2008, he worked for Drees & Sommer GmbH and DB Station & Service AG, among others, where he supervised urban quarter and project developments such as the construction of the embassies of the Nordic countries in Berlin and the project management for Berlin's main railway station. From 2008 to 2014, Henrik Thomsen headed the Berlin office of CA Immo Deutschland GmbH. From January 2013 he was also responsible for the Group-wide project development activities. From April 2014 to June 2019, Henrik Thomsen was Managing Director of Groth Development GmbH & Co. KG. He was responsible for urban quarter and project developments, project management, corporate communications and corporate development. From 2012 to 2018, Henrik Thomsen taught Project Development International at the Danube University Krems, Austria, as part of the Real Estate Management (MSc) program. Hendrik Thomsen was appointed a member of the Management Board of the Deutsche Wohnen as of 1st October 2019. As Chief Development Officer he is responsible for Property Development & Technical Maintenance, Technology Investments and Neighborhood Development.

Juergen Fenk

Mr. Juergen Fenk serves as Independent Member of the Supervisory Board of the Company. He received his degree in business administration at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, Germany. He began his career at Bayerische Vereinsbank (later HyoVereinsbank (HVB)) in Germany and France in the area International Real Estate Financing and was essential in the spin-off of the Hypo Real Estate Group. From 2003 to 2009, as Member of the Board of Directors of Hypo Real Estate Bank International, he was responsible for the Commercial Real Estate Financing Business in Europe, the United States and Asia and, in this function, was active in Ireland, Germany and the United States. From 2009 onwards, Jürgen Fenk has been with Landesbank Hessen-Thürigen (Helaba), initially as Division Manager Real Estate Lending until 2010 and, after working at BAWAG P.S.K. as Head of Commercial Real Estate Finance from 2010 to 2012, from 2012 as member of the management board for the Divisions Real Estate Lending, Real Estate Management, Financial Institutions & Public Finance and Management. Since October 2017 Jürgen Fenk is Co-CEO and member of the Group Executive Board of SIGNA Holding GmbH, Vienna, with responsibilities for banking, capital markets as well as capital sourcing and proptech. Since February 2018 he is member of the Management Board of SIGNA Innovations AG, Innsbruck, Austria. Furthermore Mr. Jürgen Fenk is Chairman of ULI Europe (Urban Land Institute)

Tina Kleingarn

Ms. Tina Kleingarn serves as Independent Member of the Supervisory Board of the Company. She achieved her masters degree in Business Administration at the University of Mannheim. She began her career at Goldman Sachs as an analyst in investment banking. From 2004 to 2005, she worked as an associate in this field in Japan and again in Frankfurt in 2006. From 2006 to 2012, she worked for Barclays Bank, first as vice president in the area of leveraged finance and later on as director in the area of financial sponsor coverage with responsibility for private equity clients in Germany. Since 2013, she works as a founding partner of Westend Corporate Finance, an M&A and IPO consultancy.

Florian Stetter

Dr. Florian Stetter serves as Independent Member of the Supervisory Board of the Company. He studied business administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and received a Ph.D. from the University of Vienna, Austria. He began his professional career in 1988 with McKinsey & Company as a business analyst. From 2000 to 2010, he was managing director of Strabag Property and Facility Services GmbH. He currently serves as chairman of the management board of RockHedge Asset Management AG in Krefeld, Germany as well as member of the management board of RockHedge Grundbesitz Management AG, Wuppertal, Germany.

Arwed Fischer

Mr. Arwed Fischer serves as Member of the Supervisory Board of the Company. After studying business administration at the University of Regensburg, Arwed Fischer graduated in 1981 with a degree in business administration (Univ.). He then held various management positions in industrial and service companies. From 1994 to 2005, Arwed Fischer was a member of the Management Board of listed trading companies, including KarstadtQuelle AG. From 2008 to 2015 he was a member of the Management Board of PATRIZIA Immobilien AG in the function of Chief Financial Officer.
