Name Description

Robert Attea

Mr. Robert J. Attea is no longer Executive Chairman of the Board of the Company May 31, 2018. He was Chief Executive Officer of the Company from March 1997 to February 29, 2012. Mr. Attea is one of the founders of the Company and has more than 40 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry and more than 30 years in the self-storage industry. He brings to the Board of Directors extensive experience in the acquisition, disposition and development of commercial real estate. He also is a key contributor in the development and execution of the Company’s business strategy and provides invaluable expertise related to the self-storage industry. This industry experience coupled with his intimate knowledge of the Company enables him to make invaluable contributions to the Board of Directors and the Company’s success. Mr. Attea is the brother-in-law of Edward F. Killeen, Chief Operating Officer of the Company.

Kenneth Myszka

Mr. Kenneth F. Myszka ha been appointed President of the Company May 31, 2018. Mr. Myszka was a Chief Operating Officer of the Company from March 1997 to January 19, 2015. Mr. Myszka is one of the founders of the Company and has more than 30 years of experience in the self-storage industry. He is a certified public accountant and a graduate of the University of Buffalo Law School. He brings to the Board extensive experience in systems development, marketing and product innovations. Also, his legal and accounting background and in-depth experience in human relations provides the Board of Directors with valuable perspectives in the development and execution of the Company’s business strategies and otherwise. In addition, he has an intimate knowledge of the Company’s day-to-day operations, which gives him a detailed understanding of the Company’s business strategy and operations.

David Rogers

Mr. David L. Rogers is Chief Executive Officer, Director of the Company. Mr. Rogers has served as Chief Executive Officer of the Company since March 1, 2012 and served as Chief Financial Officer of the Company from inception of the Company in 1995 until February 29, 2012. He has more than thirty (30) years of experience in the commercial real estate industry and self-storage industry. As Chief Executive Officer of the Company he has intimate knowledge related to all aspects of the Company’s business. Mr. Rogers also serves on the board of directors of several not for profit organizations and charities.

Andrew Gregoire

Mr. Andrew J. Gregoire is Chief Financial Officer, Secretary of the Company. Mr. Gregoire is a CPA and has been Chief Financial Officer since March 1, 2012 and Secretary since April 2, 2012, Vice President of Finance of the Company from 1998 to February 29, 2012.

Edward Killeen

Mr. Edward F. Killeen is Chief Operating Officer of the Company. He was Executive Vice President - Real Estate Management of Sovran Self Storage Inc., since March 1, 2012. He has been Vice President of Operations of the Company from 1997 to February 29, 2012.

Paul Powell

Mr. Paul T. Powell is Chief Investment Officer of the Company. He was Executive Vice President - Real Estate Investment of Sovran Self Storage Inc., since March 1, 2012. He has been Vice President of Real Estate of the Company from 1997 to February 29, 2012.

Carol Hansell

Ms. Carol Hansell is Director of the Company. Ms. Hansell brings more than 25 years of governance, government relations, legal and communications experience to the Life Storage Board. Ms. Hansell is the Founder and Senior Partner of Hansell LLP. Ms. Hansell is also a principal with Hansell McLaughlin Advisory Inc., which, together with Hansell LLP, delivers integrated legal, governance, government relations and communications advice. Ms. Hansell has served on boards of organizations across a variety of sectors including public companies, Crown corporations, financial institutions, healthcare, not-for-profit and arts organizations. She currently serves on the boards of Munich Reinsurance Company of Canada, the International Corporate Governance Network, and the American College of Governance Counsel. She is the Chair of the Business Law Advisory Council and serves on the Nominating Committee of the International Corporate Governance Network. She has served on the boards of the Bank of Canada, the Public Sector Pension Investment Board, Toronto East General Hospital, and SickKids Foundation, among others. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors and the American College of Governance Counsel.

Mark Barberio

Mr. Mark G. Barberio has been appointed Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of the Company effective on May 31, 2018. Mr. Barberio is and has been principal of Markapital, LLC since 2013. Markapital, LLC is a business and M&A consulting firm. Prior to forming Markapital, LLC, Mr. Barberio was employed by Mark IV, LLC (now Dayco, LLC) a global diversified manufacturing company from 1985 to 2013. He served in a variety of positions at Mark IV, including as Co-Chief Executive Officer from 2009 to 2013 and Chief Financial Officer from 2004 to 2013. Mr. Barberio also serves on the board of directors of Exide Technologies, a privately held global battery manufacturer and distributor for transportation and industrial applications. As a result of Mr. Barberio’s experience, he brings to the Board well-grounded experience in accounting, corporate governance, operational oversight, business strategy and investor relations. His accounting and other experience also allows him to provide leadership as the Chair of the Company’s Audit Committee.

Dana Hamilton

Ms. Dana K. Hamilton is Independent Director of the Company. Ms. Hamilton has been a Partner and Head of Real Estate at Pretium Partners, LLC, a specialized investment management firm, since April 2017. Ms. Hamilton is also the co-founder of Ameriton LLC, a real estate company, and has served as its President since October 2014. From October 2013 to October 2014, she served as President and Chief Executive Officer, and trustee, of Borderplex Community Trust. From May 2005 until 2013, Ms. Hamilton served as President - Europe and member of the Executive Committee at Archstone, one of the largest apartment companies in the United States and Europe. From August 1994 until May 2005, she held various leadership positions at Archstone, including Executive Vice President - National Operations. Ms. Hamilton previously served as a director of FelCor Lodging Trust Incorporated, a real estate investment trust, from April 2016 until September 2017. Ms. Hamilton graduated from Stanford University and earned a Masters of Business Administration from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley. Ms. Hamilton’s financial and analytical background, particularly focused on real estate investing and finance, together with her general management and other diverse experience, has led the Board to conclude she should be elected to the Board.

Arthur Havener

Mr. Arthur L. Havener, Jr. is Independent Director of the Company. Mr. Havener is and has been since 2007 principal of Stampede Capital LLC, which provides real estate consulting support to publicly traded real estate investment trusts and institutional investors. Prior to forming Stampede Capital LLC, he was a Vice President of A.G. Edwards and Sons Inc., and Head of Real Estate Research from 2002 to 2007. Mr. Havener also serves on the Board of Trustees of Boardwalk REIT, a Canadian Real Estate Investment Trust traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange. As a result of Mr. Havener’s experience, he brings to the Board significant experience in real estate investment, corporate governance, securities and REIT matters.

Charles Lannon

Mr. Charles E. Lannon is Independent Director of the Company. Mr. Lannon is and has been the President of Strategic Advisory, Inc. (formerly known as Strategic Capital, Inc.), a consulting firm, since 1995. Through Strategic Advisory, Inc., Mr. Lannon has provided consulting and advisory services to many companies seeking capital, transactional and financial guidance. Also, since 1995 he has served as an executive officer and on the board of several non-public companies. In addition, in 2013 he joined the board of Royal Oak Realty Trust Inc., a private REIT, were he currently is the lead independent director and serves on the audit, governance, and compensation committees. Prior to 1995, Mr. Lannon was involved in the self-storage industry for over 10 years. Such collected experience allows him to provide the Board of Directors with significant assistance related to investor relations, strategic and transactional matters. He also has an excellent understanding of corporate governance trends and the role of the Board of Directors which enables him to well serve the Company as chair of its Governance Committee and as a member of the Audit Committee.

Edward Pettinella

Mr. Edward J. Pettinella is Independent Director of the Company. Mr. Pettinella was the Chief Executive Officer and a director of Home Properties Inc., a publicly traded REIT, from 2003 to 2015. He served Home Properties Inc. as an Executive Vice President and director from 2001 to 2003. From 1997 to 2001, he served as President of Charter One Bank of New York and Executive Vice President of Charter One Financial, Inc., and from 1980 through 1997, he served in several managerial capacities for Rochester Community Savings Bank. Mr. Pettinella presently is a member of the Board of Directors of Manning & Napier, Inc., where he serves as Chair of the Audit Committee and a member of the Compensation and Nominating and Corporate Governance Committees. He is also a Board member of Rochester Business Alliance, National Multi Housing Council and Syracuse University, as well as a member of ULI and NAREIT. Mr. Pettinella graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo and earned a Masters of Business Administration from Syracuse University. His experience as a Chief Executive Officer, as well as his experience in corporate finance and public company operations, led the Board to conclude that he should be elected to the Board.

Stephen Rusmisel

Mr. Stephen R. Rusmisel is Independent Director of the Company. Mr. Rusmisel was a partner of the law firm of Pillsbury, Winthrop, Shaw, Pittman LLC (and its predecessor firm, Winthrop, Stimson, Putnam & Roberts) from January 1, 1980 to January 31, 2016. He received his J.D. degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1971 and his A.B degree from Yale University in 1968. During his more than 40 years as an attorney, he counseled clients in general corporate, securities and business matters with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions. He also provided advice to audit committees of public companies, and he has made numerous presentations to the Boards of Directors of public companies regarding board fiduciary duties, corporate governance matters and transactional matters. He has frequently lectured and published numerous articles on corporate governance and transactional issues. As a result of Mr. Rusmisel’s experience, he brings to the Company well grounded experience in corporate governance, accounting, finance and enterprise risk management.
