Name Description

Raymond Debbane

Mr. Raymond Debbane is an Independent Chairman of the Board of Lexicon Pharmaceuticals Inc. Mr. Debbane is president and chief executive officer of The Invus Group, LLC, which he founded in New York in 1985 as the exclusive investment advisor of Benelux-based Artal Group S.A. In 1999, Artal became the controlling shareholder of Weight Watchers International, Inc., for which Mr. Debbane serves as chairman of the board of directors. He also serves as a director of Blue Buffalo Pet Products, Inc. and as chairman or director of a number of private companies in which Invus and Artal Group S.A. have invested. Before founding The Invus Group, Mr. Debbane was a manager in the Paris office of The Boston Consulting Group, Inc., where he did consulting work for a number of major European and international companies. Mr. Debbane holds an M.B.A. from Stanford University, an M.S. in food science and technology from the University of California at Davis, and a B.S in agricultural sciences and agricultural engineering from American University of Beirut.

Lonnel Coats

Mr. Lonnel Coats is President, Chief Executive Officer, Director of the Company. From 1996 through June 2014, Mr. Coats served in a series of leadership positions at Eisai Inc. and Eisai Corporation of North America, most recently as chief executive officer from 2010 to June 2014 and president and chief operating officer from 2004 to 2010. Prior to joining Eisai, Mr. Coats spent eight years with Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a division of Johnson & Johnson, where he held a variety of management and sales positions. Mr. Coats serves as a director of Blueprint Medicines Corporation and holds a B.P.A. from Oakland University.

Jeffrey Wade

Mr. Jeffrey L. Wade is Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President - Corporate and Administrative Affairs of the company. Previously he served as executive vice president, corporate development and chief financial officer; executive vice president and general counsel; and senior vice president and chief financial officer since joining our company in 1999. From 1988 through 1998, Mr. Wade was a corporate securities and finance attorney with the law firm of Andrews & Kurth L.L.P., for the last two years as a partner, where he represented companies in the biotechnology, information technology and energy industries. Mr. Wade is a member of the board of directors of the Texas Healthcare and Bioscience Institute. He received his B.A. and J.D. from the University of Texas.

Pablo Lapuerta

Dr. Pablo Lapuerta, M.D. is Executive Vice President, Chief Medical Officer of Lexicon Pharmaceuticals Inc. He has been our executive vice president and chief medical officer since February 2015 and previously served as executive vice president, safety, pharmacovigilance and medical affairs and chief medical officer; executive vice president, clinical development and chief medical officer; and senior vice president, clinical development and chief medical officer since joining our company in 2011. From 2009 through 2010, Dr. Lapuerta served as vice president at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company with responsibility for global development of an Alzheimer’s disease drug candidate. From 2007 through 2009, Dr. Lapuerta was senior vice president, clinical strategy and chief medical officer of Cogentus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and prior to that served in a variety of clinical development leadership roles at Bristol-Myers Squibb, where he worked for 11 years before joining Cogentus. He holds a B.A. in biology from Harvard College and an M.D. from Harvard Medical School.

Alan Main

Dr. Alan J. Main, Ph.D. is an Executive Vice President - CMC and Supply Operations of Lexicon Pharmaceuticals Inc. Previously he served as executive vice president of pharmaceutical research and senior vice president, Lexicon Pharmaceuticals since joining our company in 2001. Dr. Main was president and chief executive officer of Coelacanth Corporation, a leader in using proprietary chemistry technologies to rapidly discover new chemical entities for drug development, from 2000 until our acquisition of Coelacanth in 2001. Dr. Main was formerly senior vice president, U.S. Research at Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation, where he worked for 20 years before joining Coelacanth. Dr. Main holds a B.S. from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland and a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Liverpool, England and completed postdoctoral studies at the Woodward Research Institute.

Alexander Santini

Mr. Alexander A. Santini serves as Executive Vice President, Chief Commercial Officer of the Company. Previously he served as vice president, market access and head of market access and channel management since joining our company in April 2015. Mr. Santini served in a series of leadership positions at Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals from 2006 to October 2014, most recently as vice president of market access and executive member, where he had executive responsibility for market access, pricing, trade and channel management and payer account management. Prior to 2006, Mr. Santini held executive leadership roles of increasing responsibility at Berlex Laboratories, where he worked for 22 years before joining Bayer. Mr. Santini served as a non-commissioned officer in the United States Air Force, where he completed the Radiologic Technology Program at the United States Air Force School of Health Care Science and an AAS in business marketing from Westchester Community College.

Praveen Tyle

Dr. Praveen Tyle is Executive Vice President - Research and Development of the company. Dr. Tyle was previously a member of the executive management team at Osmotica Pharmaceutical Corp., serving as president and chief executive officer from January 2013 through April 2016 and as executive vice president and chief scientific officer from August 2012 to December 2012. Prior to his service at Osmotica, Dr. Tyle held a series of leadership positions within the pharmaceutical industry, including executive vice president and chief science officer for the United States Pharmacopeia, senior vice president and global head of research and development and business development and licensing at Novartis OTC, corporate senior vice president of global research and development and chief scientific officer at Bausch & Lomb Incorporated and vice president and global head of pharmaceutical sciences at Pharmacia Corporation. Dr. Tyle serves as director of Eyegate Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Orient Europharma Ltd. Dr. Tyle received his B.Pharm. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University and his Ph.D. in pharmaceutics and pharmaceutical chemistry from the Ohio State University.

James Tessmer

Mr. James F. Tessmer is Vice President - Finance & Accounting of the company. Previously he served as senior director of finance and director of finance since joining our company in 2001. From January 1997 to 2001, Mr. Tessmer was assistant controller for Mariner Health Network, Inc. and prior to that served in a variety of financial and accounting management positions for HWC Distribution Corp. and American General Corporation. Mr. Tessmer is a certified public accountant and received his B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and his M.B.A. from the University of Houston.

Philippe Amouyal

Mr. Philippe J. Amouyal is an Independent Director of Lexicon Pharmaceuticals Inc. Previously, Mr. Amouyal was a vice president and director of The Boston Consulting Group, Inc. in Boston, Massachusetts, where he coordinated the global technology and electronics practice through most of the 1990s. Mr. Amouyal is a director of Weight Watchers International, Inc. and Blue Buffalo Pet Products, Inc., as well as a number of private companies in which Invus has invested. He holds an M.S. in engineering and a DEA in management from Ecole Centrale de Paris and was a research fellow at the Center for Policy Alternatives of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Samuel Barker

Dr. Samuel L. Barker, Ph.D. is an Independent Director of Lexicon Pharmaceuticals Inc. In 2001, Dr. Barker co-founded Clearview Projects, Inc., a provider of partnering and transaction services to biopharmaceutical companies, and served as its president and chief executive officer from 2003 to 2004. Dr. Barker served in a series of leadership positions at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company until his retirement in 1999. His positions at Bristol-Myers Squibb included service as executive vice president, Worldwide Franchise Management and Strategy during 1998; president, United States Pharmaceuticals from 1992 to 1997; and president, Bristol-Myers Squibb Intercontinental Commercial Operations from 1990 to 1992. Prior to 1990, Dr. Barker held executive positions in research and development, manufacturing, finance, business development and sales and marketing at Squibb Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Barker currently serves as a director of Cyclacel Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He previously served as a director of Cadence Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from 2006 until February 2014 when Cadence was acquired by Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Barker received his B.S. from Henderson State College, his M.S. from the University of Arkansas and his Ph.D. from Purdue University.

Robert Lefkowitz

Dr. Robert J. Lefkowitz, M.D. is an Independent Director of the company. Dr. Lefkowitz is the James B. Duke Professor of Medicine, professor of biochemistry and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator at Duke University Medical Center, where he has served on the faculty since 1973. Dr. Lefkowitz is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and has received more than 50 major awards for his research, including the 2012 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, the Shaw Prize, the Albany Medical Center Prize and the 2007 National Medal of Science. Dr. Lefkowitz received his B.A. from Columbia University and his M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Alan Nies

Dr. Alan S. Nies, M.D. is an Independent Director of Lexicon Pharmaceuticals Inc. From 1992 to his retirement in 2002, Dr. Nies served in a series of senior management positions at Merck & Co. Inc., including senior vice president, clinical sciences. Prior to joining Merck, Dr. Nies spent fifteen years as professor of medicine and pharmacology and head of the Division of Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Dr. Nies holds a B.S. from Stanford University and an M.D. from Harvard Medical School.

Frank Palantoni

Mr. Frank P. Palantoni is an Independent Director of Lexicon Pharmaceuticals Inc. Mr. Palantoni is president of Palantoni & Partners LLC, an advisory firm for the consumer and health care industries. Mr. Palantoni served as president of the pet and animal health division of Central Garden & Pet Company from 2011 to 2013 and was a partner at P3 Capital Management LLC, an early stage consumer products equity fund, from 2006 to 2011. Mr. Palantoni served as chief operating officer and chief executive officer of Prestige Brands Holding, Inc. from 2005 to 2006. From 1998 to 2004, Mr. Palantoni held a variety of senior management positions with Novartis AG, including president and chief executive officer, worldwide of the Gerber Products Company, and chief executive officer for North American operations of the Consumer Health Division. Prior to joining Novartis, he held a series of senior management positions with The Danone Group. He holds a B.S. from Tufts University and an M.B.A. from Columbia University.

Christopher Sobecki

Mr. Christopher J. Sobecki is an Independent Director of Lexicon Pharmaceuticals Inc. Mr. Sobecki is currently a director of Weight Watchers International, Inc., as well as a number of private companies in which Invus has invested. He holds a B.S. in industrial engineering from Purdue University and an M.B.A. from Harvard University. Mr. Sobecki provides us with the benefit of his diversified business and financial experience, including a particular expertise in risk assessment and business strategy development, and relationships in the financial community gained in his active participation in the identification, selection, negotiation and oversight of investments by The Invus Group and his service as a director of public and private companies. Mr. Sobecki is a designee of Invus, L.P. and Invus C.V. pursuant to our stockholders’ agreement with Invus described under the heading “Transactions with Related Persons - Arrangements with Invus.”

Judith Swain

Dr. Judith L. Swain, M.D. is an Independent Director of Lexicon Pharmaceuticals Inc. Dr. Swain is a Visiting Professor of Medicine at the National University of Singapore and Chief Medical Officer of Physiowave, Inc. From 2006 to 2016, she was Executive Director of the Singapore Institute for Clinical Sciences (A*STAR). From 2005 to 2006, she was the dean for translational medicine at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Swain served as chair of the Department of Medicine at Stanford University from 1997 to 2005, and previously served on the medical faculties of the University of Pennsylvania and Duke University. Dr. Swain is currently a director of Avacen, Inc. She has previously served in a number of national and international leadership roles and as a director or member of the scientific advisory boards for a number of biomedical technology companies and is co-founder of Synecor, LLC. Dr. Swain received her B.S. from the University of California, Los Angeles and her M.D. from the University of California, San Diego.
