Name Description

Peter Hay

Mr. Peter Algernon Franc Hay is an Independent Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Newcrest Mining Ltd. Mr Hay has a strong background and breadth of experience in business, corporate law, finance and investment banking advisory work, with a particular expertise in relation to mergers and acquisitions. He has also had significant involvement in advising governments and government-owned enterprises. Mr Hay was a partner of the legal firm Freehills until 2005, where he served as Chief Executive Officer from 2000.

Sandeep Biswas

Mr. Sandeep Biswas serves as Chief Executive Officer, Managing Director, Executive Director of Newcrest Mining Ltd. He was appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer effective 4 July 2014. He joined Newcrest in January 2014, as an Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer. Skills, Experience and Expertise Mr Biswas was previously Chief Executive Officer of Pacific Aluminium, a wholly owned subsidiary within the Rio Tinto group, which incorporated the bauxite, alumina, refining and smelting operations in Australia and New Zealand. He began his career with Mount Isa Mines, working in both Australia and Europe. Mr Biswas has also worked for Western Mining Corporation in Australia and Rio Tinto in Canada and Australia. He has experience in research, operations, business development and projects, across commodities including aluminium, copper, lead, zinc and nickel.

Gerard Bond

Mr. Gerard Bond serves as Chief Financial Officer, Finance Director and Executive Director of Newcrest Mining Ltd. Mr Bond has experience in the global financial and resources industry with BHP Billiton, Coopers & Lybrand and Price Waterhouse. Prior to joining Newcrest, Mr Bond was with BHP Billiton for over 14 years where he held a number of senior executive roles in Europe and Australia including in Mergers and Acquisitions, Treasury, as Deputy CFO of the Aluminium business, CFO and then Acting President of the Nickel business, and as BHP Billiton’s Head of Group Human Resources.

Francesca Lee

Ms. Francesca Lee serves as Executive General Manager, General Counsel, Company Secretary of Newcrest Mining Ltd. She joined Newcrest as General Counsel and Company Secretary in March 2014. She was General Counsel and Company Secretary of OZ Minerals Limited from 2008 until 2014, and its antecedent companies from 2003. Ms Lee has more than 30 years’ experience working across various senior legal and commercial roles within the mining industry including BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto Limited and Comalco Limited, including as General Manager Internal Audit and Risk at Rio Tinto Limited. She also spent several years as Vice President Structured Finance with Citibank Limited. Ms Lee was a member of the Australian Government Takeovers Panel from 2009 until March 2015.

Mr. Craig Antony Jones is an Executive General Manager - Wafi-Golpu of Newcrest Mining Ltd. He joined Newcrest in 2008 as General Manager Projects. In 2010 he held the role of General Manager Cadia Valley Operations in New South Wales. Craig was appointed Executive General Manager - Projects in July 2012 and in March 2013 he assumed additional responsibility for Asset Management. Prior to joining Newcrest, Craig worked in projects at Rio Tinto. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical).

Ian Kemish

Mr. Ian Kemish is an Executive General Manager - Public Affairs & Social Performance of the Company. He has extensive executive level experience across industry and government having held roles spanning the resources sector, political and business advocacy, economic analysis, management of the Australian international aid program, and crisis management. Mr Kemish joins Newcrest from ExxonMobil where, for the past three years, has held the role of Senior Director, Asia Pacific External Affairs. Prior to this, Ian has held the roles of Australian High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea; Australian Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany and Switzerland; Head of the International Division at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, and Head of the South East Asia and Consular Divisions at DFAT. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in International Relations and South East Asian Modern History, and a Graduate Diploma in Education. He was awarded membership of the Order of Australia in 2003 for his leadership of the Australian Government's emergency response to the 2002 Bali bombings.

Phil Stephenson

Mr. Phil Stephenson is an Executive General Manager - Telfer and Health Safety Environment & Security of Newcrest Mining Ltd. Phil will be accountable for Newcrest’s Gosowong and Telfer operations, in addition to the group’s Asset Management function. Phil joined Newcrest in 2014 and has extensive international mining operations experience, with 29 years in the industry working for some of the world’s largest mining companies including Newmont Mining Corporation, Barrick Gold Corporation and Placer Dome Inc.

Michael Nossal

Mr. Michael Nossal is Chief Development Officer of Newcrest Mining Ltd. He joins Newcrest from MMG Limited where, for the past five years, he was Executive General Manager Business Development. He has also held executive roles with En+ Group, Macquarie Bank, WMC Resources, Normandy Mining and Kenmare Resources. His experience base is across commodities including gold and base metals, and he has worked across multiple geographies including Peru, Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique, Russia, UK, Ireland, Turkey, Greece, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, China, USA and France. Mr Nossal has more than 25 years’ executive experience with resources companies both within Australia and internationally and has worked extensively in the gold sector. Mike holds a Master of Business Administration (Finance) and a Bachelor of Science.

Claire Hannon

Mrs. Claire Hannon serves as Deputy Company Secretary of the company. She joined Newcrest in January 2013 as Corporate Counsel in the legal team. She was appointed as an additional Company Secretary in August 2015. Prior to joining Newcrest, Ms Hannon worked as a lawyer in the Melbourne office of Ashurst and the London office of Clifford Chance, specialising in mergers and acquisitions and corporate law.

Philip Aiken

Mr. Philip (Phil) Stanley Aiken serves as Non-Executive Independent Director of Newcrest Mining Ltd since April 12, 2013. Mr Aiken has extensive Australian and international business experience, principally in the engineering and resources sectors. He was Group President Energy BHP Billiton, President BHP Petroleum, Managing Director BOC/CIG, Chief Executive of BTR Nylex and Senior Advisor Macquarie Capital (Europe).

Roger Higgins

Dr. Roger John Higgins serves as Non-Executive Independent Director of Newcrest Mining Ltd. He was appointed to the Board in October 2015. He is a member of the Safety and Sustainability Committee. Skills, Experience and Expertise Dr Higgins brings extensive experience leading mining companies and operations, and has deep working knowledge of Papua New Guinea as a current Non-Executive Director and a former Managing Director of Ok Tedi Mining Limited in Papua New Guinea. In his most recent executive position, Dr Higgins served as Senior Vice President, Copper at Canadian metals and mining company, Teck Resources Limited. Prior to this role he was Vice President and Chief Operating Officer with BHP Billiton Base Metals Customer Sector Group working in Australia and also held senior positions with BHP Billiton in Chile. He also holds the position of Adjunct Professor with the Sustainable Minerals Institute, University of Queensland.

Xiaoling Liu

Dr. Xiaoling Liu serves as Non-Executive Independent Director of Newcrest Mining Ltd. Dr Liu has extensive executive experience in leading global mining and processing businesses. Her last executive role was as President and Chief Executive Officer of Rio Tinto Minerals based in Denver, where she ran integrated mining, processing and supply chain operations in the United States, Europe and Asia. Prior to her last executive role, Dr Liu held senior management and operational roles at Rio Tinto throughout her career including President – Primary Metal Pacific, Managing Director – Global Technical Services and General Manager Bell Bay Smelter.

Vickki McFadden

Ms. Vickki Anne McFadden serves as Non-Executive Independent Director of the Company since 1 October 2016. Skills, Ms McFadden has an extensive background in finance and law and is a former investment banker with considerable experience in corporate finance transactions, having served as Managing Director of Investment Banking at Merrill Lynch in Australia and as a Director of Centaurus Corporate Finance. Vickki has broad experience in several roles as member or chairman of audit committees

Peter Tomsett

Mr. Peter W. Tomsett is appointed as Non-Executive Independent Director of the company effective from 1 September 2018. Mr Tomsett has extensive and deep gold mining and international business experience as both an executive and non-executive director of a broad range of mining companies listed on the Australian, Toronto, New York and London stock exchanges. His last executive role was as the President and Chief Executive Officer of global gold and copper company, Placer Dome Inc, where he worked for 20 years in project, operational and executive roles. He has been the Chairman and Managing Director of Kidston Gold Mines Ltd and the Non-Executive Chairman of Equinox Minerals Ltd and Silver Standard Resources Inc. He has also held numerous other Board positions in mining, energy and construction companies and associations including as a Director of OZ Minerals Ltd, Acacia Mining plc, Talisman Energy Inc, North American Energy Partners Inc, Africo Resources Ltd, World Gold Council, Minerals Council of Australia, and International Council for Mining and Metals.
