Biographies

Name Description

James Herbert

Mr. James L. Herbert is an Executive Chairman of the Board of Neogen Corporation. He had been the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board since 2006; he resigned as Chief Executive Officer on July 17, 2017, when John Adent was named to that role. Prior to 2006, he had been President and a Director since he founded the Company in June 1982. Mr. Herbert previously held the position of Corporate Vice President of DeKalb Ag Research, a major agricultural genetics and energy company. He has management experience in animal biologics, specialized chemical research, medical instruments, aquaculture, animal nutrition, and poultry and livestock breeding and production.

John Adent

Mr. John Edward Adent serves as President, Chief Executive Officer of the Company. Prior to joining Neogen, Mr. Adent served as the Chief Executive Officer of Animal Health International, Inc., formerly known as Lextron, Inc., from 2004 to 2015, also serving as its President during that time. Animal Health International was sold to Patterson Companies, Inc. in 2015, and Mr. Adent served as the Chief Executive Officer of the $3.3 billion Animal Health Division of Patterson Animal Health from that period until his resignation on July 1, 2017. Mr. Adent began his career with management responsibilities for Ralston Purina Company, developing animal feed manufacturing and sales operations in China and the Philippines. When Ralston Purina spun off that business to Agribrands, he continued his management role in the European division in Spain and Hungary, serving as managing director of the Hungarian operations. He left Ralston Purina in 2004.

Steven Quinlan

Mr. Steven J. Quinlan, CPA, is Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of Neogen Corporation. He was named Secretary in October 2011. He is responsible for all internal and external financial reporting for the Company, and also manages the accounting, human resources, information technology, communications and facilities departments. Mr. Quinlan came to the Company following 19 years at Detrex Corporation (1992-2010), the last eight years serving as Vice President-Finance, CFO and Treasurer. He was on the audit staff at the public accounting firm Price Waterhouse (now PWC) from 1985-1989.

Terri Morrical

Ms. Terri A. Morrical is a Vice President - Animal Safety of Neogen Corporation. She joined Neogen in September 1992 as part of the Company’s acquisition of WTT, Incorporated. She has directed most aspects of the Company’s Animal Safety operations since she joined Neogen and currently serves as Vice President in charge of all of the Company’s Animal Safety operations excluding GeneSeek. From 1986 to 1991, Ms. Morrical was Controller for Freeze Point Cold Storage Systems and concurrently served in the same capacity for Powercore, Inc. In 1990, she joined WTT, Incorporated as VP/CFO and then became President, the position q held at the time Neogen acquired the business.

Stewart Bauck

Mr. Stewart Bauck is Vice President - Agrigenomics of the Company. He joined Neogen in 2012 as the Company’s Director of Beef Cattle Genomics, and became General Manager of Neogen’s GeneSeek subsidiary in 2013. In December 2016, Dr. Bauck was named Neogen’s Vice President of Agrigenomics, responsible for GeneSeek’s operation and execution of the company’s genomics strategy. Prior to joining Neogen, Bauck spent 15 years with Merial Inc., where he created and launched the Igenity livestock production business. Igenity was acquired by Neogen from Merial in May 2012. Bauck’s experience also includes various responsibilities in technical services and management for Merck AgVet, and earlier in his career, he owned and operated his own private veterinary practice with a major emphasis on food-producing animals.

Edward Bradley

Mr. Edward L. Bradley is a Vice President - Food Safety of Neogen Corporation. He joined the Company in February 1995 as part of its acquisition of AMPCOR Diagnostics, Inc, where he served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. In June 1996, he was named a Vice President of Neogen. In June 2006, Mr. Bradley was named Vice President, Food Safety. He has responsibility for all of Food Safety, with the exception of Neogen Europe and research and development. From 1988 to 1995, Mr. Bradley served in several sales and marketing capacities for Mallinckrodt Animal Health, including the position of National Sales Manager in its Food Animal Products Division. Prior to joining Mallinckrodt, he held several sales and marketing positions for Stauffer Chemical Company.

Joseph Corbett

Mr. Joseph A. Corbett is a Vice President - Animal Safety Sales & Operations of the Company. He joined Neogen in December 1993 as a sales representative in the Animal Safety operation based in Lexington, Kentucky. Prior to Neogen, he worked for the Marriott Corporation in sales and operations. He has served in various sales, marketing and operational roles in the Neogen Animal Safety group. Most recently, Mr. Corbett was Senior Director of Sales & Operations, Animal Safety. He was named Vice President, Animal Safety Sales and Operations in October 2014, responsible for all Animal Safety revenues excluding GeneSeek and Life Sciences and operations at the Lexington distribution centers.

Melissa Herbert

Ms. Melissa K. Herbert is Vice President - Support Services of the Company. She joined the Company in August 2005 as a sales representative in the Company’s Food Safety Division in Lansing, Michigan. In 2011, Ms. Herbert was named Manager of Industry Affairs, with oversight of regulatory issues for both the Food and Animal Safety divisions, and in June 2013, Director of Industry Affairs. She was named Vice President, Support Services in October 2015. Support Services is comprised of Technical Service, Regulatory Affairs and Industry Affairs departments.

Kenneth Kodilla

Mr. Kenneth V. Kodilla is Vice President - Manufacturing of Neogen Corporation. He has responsibility for all manufacturing, inventory management, shipping and quality system operations for the Company’s Food Safety Division in Lansing, Michigan. Prior to joining Neogen, Mr. Kodilla served as plant manager for Facet Technologies in Atlanta, Georgia from 2001, as Manufacturing Manager for Becton Dickinson and Difco Laboratories from 1988, and as Quality Manager for Lee Laboratories from 1984. Mr. Kodilla’s manufacturing and regulatory experience includes FDA/ISO regulated Class and diagnostic reagents and devices, high volume automated assembly and packaging, materials management and plant operations.

Jason Lilly

Dr. Jason W. Lilly, Ph.D. is a Vice President - Corporate Development of Neogen Corp. He joined the Company in June 2005 as Market Development Manager for Food Safety. In June 2009, he moved to the Corporate Development group. He was named Vice President of Corporate Development in December 2011, responsible for the identification and acquisition of new business opportunities for the Company. Prior to joining Neogen, he served in various technical sales and marketing roles at Invitrogen Corporation. Dr. Lilly’s technical knowledge and business acumen provides the Company with a strong combination of merger and acquisition skills.

Jennifer Rice

Dr. Jennifer A. Rice, Ph.D., is a Vice President & Senior Research Director of Neogen Corp. She joined the Company in February 2009 as Senior Scientific Officer. In October 2010, she was named Vice President and Senior Research Director and had responsibility to manage and lead Neogen’s research and development team. Prior to joining Neogen, Dr. Rice served as Animal Health Global Product Development Leader at Dow AgroSciences. From 1996 to 2004, she held Research Director Positions at Biocor Animal Health (2001-2004) and Merial Animal Health (1996-2001). Dr. Rice’s strong background in leading large global research and development teams brought a key management skill to Neogen. Dr. Rice retired from the Company effective November 11, 2016.

Dwight Schroedter

Mr. Dwight E. Schroedter is a Vice President - Animal Safety Manufacturing of the Company. He joined Neogen in January 1995 as the Research and Development Manager of the Animal Safety Division based in Lexington, Kentucky. He has served in a variety of technical, operational and sales roles as part of the Animal Safety Division and was named Vice President, Animal Safety Manufacturing in October 2014, overseeing manufacturing operations at the Company’s domestic Animal Safety manufacturing locations, excluding Lansing. Prior to joining Neogen, Mr. Schroedter managed the antibody development laboratory for the Ames Division of Miles, Incorporated.

Daniel Kephart

Dr. Daniel D, Kephart is Chief Science Officer of the Company. Dr. Kephart’s experience and expertise in technology scouting, product design, and instrument integration will help broaden Neogen’s continued rapid growth in the development of solutions for both food and animal safety. Prior to joining Neogen, Kephart served as Research and Development Director for the Agribusiness unit of Thermo Fisher Scientific, as well as Animal Health and Food Safety Development at Life Technologies. His extensive industry experience also includes the management of a team focused on technical applications and customer-facing solutions for Promega Corporation.

Jack Parnell

Mr. Jack C. Parnell is an Lead Independent Director of Neogen Corporation. He was elected to the Board in October 1993 and was elected Chairman of the Board in October 2001. In 2006, Mr. Parnell resigned as Chairman of the Board, but remained a director. Since 1991, he has held the position of Governmental Relations Advisor with the law firm of Kahn, Soares and Conway in Sacramento, California. In 1989, Mr. Parnell was appointed by President George H. W. Bush to serve as Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. From 1983 to 1989, he served in three different senior governmental positions for the state of California, including Secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture from 1987 to 1989. Mr. Parnell’s service in senior governmental positions in the state of California and U.S. Department of Agriculture allows him to uniquely advise the Board and management on matters of government relations and regulation. It is because of this experience as well as his general business knowledge that he is most valuable as a member of the Board.

William Boehm

Dr. William T. Boehm, Ph.D., is an Independent Director of Neogen Corporation, since May 2011. He is a retired Senior Vice President of The Kroger Co. and former Senior Economist for the President’s Council of Economic Advisors under President Carter. Dr. Boehm joined The Kroger Co. in 1981 as Director of Economic Research and held positions of increasing responsibility with that company until his retirement in 2008. During the 1990’s, he held senior executive positions in both Procurement and Logistics and was made Senior Vice President and a Corporate Officer. In 2004, Dr. Boehm was promoted to President of the Kroger Manufacturing Division. He served on the board of Greatwide Logistics, a logistics services company, from 2009-2015 and currently serves on the boards of FLM+, a strategic planning, issues management and advertising firm working exclusively with farm and food clients, and GLK Foods, a producer, processor and marketing company specializing in sauerkraut. He remains active in professional associations and academia. Dr. Boehm’s wealth of experience in agriculture and virtually all aspects of the food service industry make him well qualified to serve on the Board.

James Borel

Mr. James C. Borel is Independent Director of the Company. He retired in 2016 from DuPont, where he was Executive Vice President since 2009 and a member of DuPont’s Office of the Chief Executive, with responsibility for the agriculture and food ingredients businesses of DuPont as well as the corporate functions of Sustainability and Government Affairs. Mr. Borel has over 38 years of experience in the global agriculture and food industry, with extensive international experience including three assignments abroad and responsibilities extending beyond the U.S. for over 25 years. Mr. Borel is a member of the board of directors of Farmers Edge, and of the board of advisors for Sajjan India, Ltd. and Arsenal Capital Partners as well as the board of trustees of the University of Delaware, the Farm Foundation, and the Alpha Gamma Rho Educational Foundation, and is a past chair of the board of trustees for the National 4-H Council. Mr. Borel is a National Association of Corporate Directors Governance Fellow, demonstrating his commitment to the highest standards of Boardroom excellence. His knowledge of the agricultural and food industries, and his international experience bring significant value to the Board.

Ronald Green

Dr. Ronald Green, Ph.D., is Independent Director of Neogen Corporation. He was appointed Chancellor of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in April 2016. Prior to that appointment, he was the Harlan Vice Chancellor of the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources and Vice President for Agriculture and Natural Resources of the University of Nebraska system since 2010. Dr. Green served as senior global director of technical services at Pfizer Animal Health’s animal genomics business from 2008 to 2010. He was on faculty at Texas Tech University and Colorado State, and was the national program leader for animal production research for the USDA’s Agricultural Research Service and executive secretary of the White House’s interagency working group on animal genomics within the National Science and Technology Council. In that role, he was a leader in the international bovine, porcine and ovine genome sequencing projects. Dr. Green is a past president of the American Society of Animal Science (“ASAS”) and the National Block and Bridle Club, and has served in a number of leadership positions for the U.S. Beef Improvement Federation, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, National Pork Board, Federated Animal Science Societies, and the National Research Council. Dr. Green was named a fellow of ASAS in 2014. Dr. Green’s experience in genomics and animal production research brings great value and insight to the Board.

G. Bruce Papesh

Mr. G. Bruce Papesh is an Independent Director of the Company. He was elected to the Board in October 1993 and was the Company’s Secretary from October 1994 to October 1999. Since 1987, Mr. Papesh has served as President of Dart, Papesh & Company, Inc., member of SIPC and FINRA, an investment consulting and financial services firm. Mr. Papesh also served until October 1, 2001 on the board of directors of Immucor, Inc., an immunodiagnostics company that manufactures and markets products for the human clinical blood bank industry. Mr. Papesh has experience in the investment securities industry and in financial analysis which contributes greatly to the Board.

Thomas Reed

Mr. Thomas H. Reed is Independent Director of the Company. He was elected to the Board in October 1995 and served as the Company’s Secretary from October 1999 to October 2007. From 2009 to 2010 he was a consultant to the President of JBS Packerland North America. From 2003 to 2009, Mr. Reed was Senior Vice President of JBS Packerland, a beef processing company and its successor companies, Smithfield Foods, Beef Division, and JBS Packerland North America. Prior to assuming that position, he served as Vice President of Michigan Livestock Exchange Marketing, a division of Southern States Cooperative, Inc. and prior to that as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Michigan Livestock Exchange. Mr. Reed is a former member of the board of directors of the National Livestock Producers Association and is a former chairman of the Michigan State University Board of Trustees. Mr. Reed’s experience in animal processing and general agriculture provide insight and value to the Board.

James Tobin

Mr. James P. Tobin is Independent Director of the Company. He pent more than 31 years with Monsanto, beginning his career in 1983 and holding leadership roles across the company, including positions in sales management, marketing, new product development and industry affairs. His last leadership role, prior to retirement in 2014, was Vice President, Industry Affairs. Mr. Tobin has worked to advance agriculture through leadership roles in key organizations, including serving as Chairman of the American Seed Trade Association from 2005 to 2006. He has also supported youth in agriculture, focusing on leadership development through his work with the Missouri and National 4-H Foundations. Mr. Tobin is a board member of the U.S. Grain Council, a board member and chairman of the FarmHouse Fraternity Foundation and a member of the Farm Foundation Roundtable. His knowledge of the agricultural industry and his business acumen bring significant value to the Board.
