Biographies

Name Description

Suresh Narayanan

Mr. Suresh Narayanan is Chairman of the Board, Managing Director of the Company. Mr. Suresh Narayanan holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics. He has a Diploma from the IMD Program for Executive Development and has participated in the Nestlé Leadership Program of the London Business School. He has over 30 years of rich and exhaustive experience in the FMCG Industry and has held senior management and top leadership roles in leading global companies. Mr. Narayanan was Chairman and CEO of Nestlé Philippines prior to joining Nestlé India as Managing Director. Mr. Narayanan joined Nestlé in 1999 as Executive Vice President for Sales in India, where he spearheaded major structural and strategic changes in Sales and Customer Management and set up the chilled dairy business. He moved to Nestlé Indochina in 2003, as Executive Director for Sales, Marketing and Food-Services, covering the countries of Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam. Two years later in 2005, he returned to India as Head of Sales for India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. In 2008, Mr. Narayanan was appointed as Managing Director of Nestlé Singapore Pte. Ltd., and remained there until 2010. During his time the overall business in Singapore witnessed sustained growth amidst the economic downturn. He was awarded the Medal of Commendation by the Government of Singapore in 2010, for excellence in employee relations during this challenging period. He moved to Nestlé Egypt as Chairman and CEO and Head of NEAR, where his initiatives resulted in significant business growth and investments despite the turbulence and volatility faced by the region at this time. Mr. Narayanan began his career as a management trainee with Hindustan Unilever, where he held numerous positions of increasing responsibility in Sales, Marketing and General Management. He has also worked with Colgate Palmolive in India.

Shobinder Duggal

Mr. Shobinder Duggal is no longer Chief Financial Officer of the Company, effective February 28, 2020. He is no longer Whole-Time Director of Nestle India Ltd., effective December 31, 2019. He is an Economics (Hons.) Graduate from St. Stephens College, Delhi University and a Chartered Accountant. He has attended the Executive Development Program at IMD, Lausanne. He has over 30 years of work experience with Nestlé. Before becoming the CFO and member of the Nestlé India Board in 2004, he handled various responsibilities in Nestlé India Limited, including Vice President Corporate Control, Head of Internal Audit and some important assignments at the Nestlé group Headquarters in Switzerland. He is also on the Board of Nestlé Lanka PLC since January 2014.

Martin Roemkens

Mr. Martin Roemkens is Executive Director - Technical of the Company. Mr. Roemkens holds Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Western Australia. He has over 20 years of rich and exhaustive experience in Technical and Production functions and has held senior management positions during his career. Before Nestlé India posting, Mr. Roemkens was the Technical Manager in Nestlé’s North East Africa Region which he successfully led for almost four years including developing the factories in Egypt to a world-class standard. He has also served as the Factory Manager of the Moga Factory of the Company, one of the largest factories in the Region, from 2009 to 2012. He is responsible for, amongst others, the management and conduct with respect to the technical areas of the Company including all existing and future factory locations.

Ms. Rama Bijapurkar is Non-Executive Independent Director of the Company. Ms. Bijapurkar holds a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Physics from Delhi University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from IIM Ahmedabad Ms. Bijapurkar is a recognized thought leader on market strategy and India’s consumer economy, and has over 30 years of experience in market strategy consulting and market research. She has her own independent market strategy consulting practice, is a widely experienced independent director and is also a visiting faculty at IIM Ahmedabad. Ms. Rama Bijapurkar holds directorship and membership of the Committees of the Board of Directors of the understated listed companies in India: Director in Emami Limited, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Limited, Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Limited and RBL Bank Limited. Member of Audit Committee and Chairperson of Stakeholders Relationship Committee of Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Limited; Member of Nomination and Remuneration Committee and Risk Management Committee of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Limited and Member of Nomination Committee of RBL Bank Limited.

Rajya Kanoria

Mr. Rajya Vardhan Kanoria is Non-Executive Independent Director of the Company. Mr. Kanoria is one of India’s leading Industrialists. He is Promoter and CMD of Kanoria Chemicals. He is an MBA (Hons.) from IMD, Switzerland. He has been instrumental in influencing trade policy both at the national and global level and has over four decades of experience in the chemicals, textiles and jute industries. He has contributed to Industry and Society immensely. He has occupied various offices in Industry Associations including the office of President of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in 2012-13. He has also Chaired, Commission on Trade and Investment Policy of the International Chamber of Commerce, Paris during 2008 – 2011. He has been Chairman of Confederation of Indian Textile Industry and Chairman of Indian Jute Mills’ Association. He has served on various Government Committees particularly on trade and investment. He has been awarded with “Swiss Ambassador’s Award for Leadership and Business Ethics, 2013” and bestowed with the Distinction of Commander of the Order of Leopold II by the King of Belgium for his contribution to the development of business ties between India and Belgium.

Rakesh Mohan

Dr. Rakesh Mohan is Non-Executive Independent Director of the Company. He was on Nestlé India Board earlier as an Independent Non-Executive Director from April, 2010 to October, 2012 and had relinquished office of Director of the Company consequent to his appointment as Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund, Washington, D.C., United States, representing India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Bhutan. Dr. Mohan received BA in Economics from Yale University. He is also a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London. He got his Master’s Degree and Doctorate in Economics from Princeton University, New Jersey, United States. Dr. Rakesh Mohan is one of India’s senior-most economic policymakers and an expert on central banking, monetary policy, infrastructure and urban affairs. He is a former Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. As Deputy Governor he was in charge of monetary policy, financial markets, economic research and statistics. In addition to serving in various posts for the Indian government, including representing India in a variety of international forums such as Basel and G20, he has worked for the World Bank and headed prestigious research institutes. Dr. Mohan has written extensively on urban economics, urban development and Indian economic policy reforms. Dr. Rakesh Mohan is a Director in Mahindra United World College of India.

Swati Piramal

Dr. Swati A. Piramal is Non-Executive Independent Director of Nestle India Ltd. She is the Vice Chairperson of Piramal Enterprises Limited. She has a Medical Degree from the University of Bombay, a diploma in Industrial Medicine and a Masters’ in Public Health from Harvard University, USA. She was the Commencement Speaker at the Harvard School of Public Health in 1992. She is a founder of the Gopikrishna Piramal Hospital in Mumbai, and has launched public health campaigns against chronic disease, osteoporosis, malaria, TB, epilepsy and polio. As Director of the Piramal Foundation which is engaged in inter-disciplinary and field based education, she helps promote health in rural India with HMRI - a mobile health service, women’s empowerment projects, and supporting community education that creates young leaders. She is a Director of Sarvajal foundation for clean water. She has made contribution for supporting women in leadership roles. Dr. Piramal has been the recipient of one of France’s highest honours -”Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Merite” (Knight of the Order of Merit) in 2006 for medicine and trade. She was nominated one of the 25 Most Powerful Women in India, eight times in succession, from 2003 till 2011 and nominated to the Hall of Fame of Most Powerful Women in Business in 2011. Dr. Piramal was the President of ASSOCHAM 2009-2010, and was the first woman to be elected in 90 years of the history of ASSOCHAM. She was awarded by the Honourable President of India, for contribution to better Corporate Governance, and is the recipient of the Global Empowerment Award - UK, from Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Kent. On 4th April 2012, Dr. Piramal received the prestigious Padma Shri, at the hands of the President of India for her exceptional and distinguished contribution to the field of trade and industry. In September 2012, she received the Alumni Merit Award, the highest Award bestowed on alumni, from Harvard.
