Upsot: Julia Gillard speech in parliament Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard launches a scathing attack on opposition leader Tony Abbot - in a speech that became an internet hit. But Gillard's words have had an impact way beyond parliament in Canberra. Australia's Macquarie Dictionary has decided to widen it's definition of Misogyny to better fit the heated political debate raging across the country, and its usage over the last 30 years. The current definition is "hatred of women", but the editor of Macquarie dictionary said the word is now used differently. (SOUNDBITE) (English) EDITOR OF MAQUARIE DICTIONARY: "When we say misogynistic we mean that they have this prejudice against women" Gillard may have started the whole controversy, but she says she is not getting involved in changing the definition of misogyny. (SOUNDBITE) (English) AUSTRALIAN PM JULIA GILLARD: "Look, I will leave editing dictionaries to those whose special expertise is language."
