Jan. 30 - Amateur video purports to show heavy fighting in Syria a day after international mediator Lakhdar Brahimi warned the U.N. Security Council the country is ''breaking up.'' Deborah Gembara reports.

Tanks prowled the streets of Daraya, located just outside of Damascus in this latest video posted to a social media website. Reuters cannot independently verify reports that government forces have taken back the rebel town -- but the images seemed to underscore international mediator Lakhdar Brahimi's claim that the the country is "breaking up." (Kaboom) Deraa --- the cradle of the uprising against President Bashar al Assad, was rocked by explosions and an a seemingly endless stream of gunfire. Twenty-two months of fighting in Syria has unnerved neighbouring Turkey to such an extent that Ankara has requested help from NATO ---Ships carrying U.S. PAtriot missiles arrived on the country's southern tip on Wednesday.
