An explosion in Turkey's southeastern city of Diyarbakir that wounded several people occurred during the repair of a vehicle, the local governor's office says. Rough cut (no reporter narration).

ROUGH CUT. NO REPORTER NARRATION. An explosion that rocked Turkey's southeastern city of Diyarbakir and wounded several people on Tuesday (April 11) occurred during the repair of a vehicle, Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said. The blast sent a large plume of grey smoke rising over surrounding buildings causing part of the roof of the police compound to collapse and wounding at least four people. Diyarbakir is the largest city in Turkey's southeast, where the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) has fought an insurgency against the state for more than three decades to press demands for Kurdish autonomy. The blast comes ahead of a hotly contested referendum on Sunday (April 16) on broadening President Tayyip Erdogan's powers, a constitutional change opposed by many in the country's predominantly Kurdish southeast.
