Sleeping in a dog cage, Pattinson pares down for 'Good Time' thriller

A-list actor Robert Pattinson uses a dog cage to take a nap on set of his latest movie. Ben Gruber reports.

STORY: Robert Pattinson's performance in "Good Time" is being hailed by critics as some of the actor's best work to date. But the New York City crime thriller with a psychopathic twist wasn't an ordinary filming experience for the A-list actor. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ROBERT PATTINSON, ACTOR, SAYING: "Just shooting at the pace we were shooting at, you're kind of always 'on'. We didn't even have trailers or all of that stuff. There is no waste of time at all …We were shooting in an apartment , there were so many people in the apartment, there was nowhere to even sit. So I was sleeping in the picture dog's bed, in his cage. " (SOUNDBITE) (English) JOSH SAFDIE, CO-DIRECTOR, SAYING: "Passed out. We were all setting up lights and everything and I was like 'Where's Rob?' and I look over and there is a dog cage, a big huge dog cage and he (Pattinson) is in there sleeping like this. He kind of looked dead a little bit. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ROBERT PATTINSON, ACTOR, SAYING: "The dog was pissed." Sleeping arraignments aside, the fast paced film was shot mostly with hand-held cameras on the streets of Queens, New York. Pattinson as Connie who is obsessed with breaking his brother out of prison after a botched bank robbery. The movie debuted in competition at the Cannes Film festival in May and is set to be released the United States on August 11th.
