ROUGH CUT. NO REPORTER NARRATION. Muslim worshippers in Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza marked the beginning of the four-day feast of Eid al Adha on Friday (September 1). In Jerusalem's Old City, thousands of Muslims gathered at the Al-Aqsa mosque to attend early morning prayers. In the West Bank city of Ramallah, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and other officials held holiday prayers at the presidential compound, and later laid a wreath on the grave of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. Dozens attended prayers in the Hamas-run Gaza Strip, where Hamas officials led the ceremony in an open field. The four-day holiday is being marked by Muslims across the region by slaughtering sheep, goats, cows and camels.
