NATURAL ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Thousands of people turned out to watch a fireworks display marking Diwali Day in the English city of Leicester on Thursday (October 19). Diwali marks the return of the Hindu god Lord Rama to Ayodhya in northern India after defeating Ravana, a powerful demon king. The festival symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. Leicester with over 28 percent of British Indian residents, according to the latest census, holds the largest Diwali festival in the world outside India. Leicester holds one of the largest Diwali festivals in the world outside India due to its British Indian community. According to the last census in 2011, more than 28 percent of the population identified as British Indian.
