Daimler AG (Daimler), incorporated on July 31, 1998, is an automotive engineering company. The Company is engaged in the development, production and distribution of cars, trucks and vans in Germany, and the management of the Daimler Group. Daimler's segments include Mercedes-Benz Cars, Daimler Trucks, Mercedes-Benz Vans, Daimler Buses and Daimler Financial Services.
The products supplied by the Mercedes-Benz Cars division include a spectrum of premium vehicles of the Mercedes Benz brand and its Mercedes AMG, and Mercedes Maybach sub brands. These vehicles range from various models of the A Class and B Class to a program of sport utility vehicles, roadsters, coupes and convertibles, and S Class luxury sedans. It manufactures cars in Germany, and also has production facilities in the United States, China, France, Hungary, Romania, South Africa, India, Vietnam and Indonesia, and at Valmet Automotive in Finland.
The Daimler Trucks segment distributes its trucks under the brand names, Mercedes Benz, Freightliner, FUSO, Western Star, Thomas Built Buses and BharatBenz. This segment has approximately 30 production facilities in North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) region, Europe, Asia and South America.
The vans of the Mercedes Benz Vans segment are primarily sold under the brand names, Mercedes Benz Freightliner brand. The product range of the Mercedes-Benz Vans division in the segment for mid-size and large vans includes the Sprinter and Vito series. Mercedes Benz Vans has manufacturing facilities at over 10 locations in Germany, Spain, the United States and Argentina, as well as in China within a joint venture, and in France.
The Daimler Buses segment sells completely built up buses under the brand names, Mercedes Benz and Setra. In addition, Daimler Buses produces and sells bus chassis. Its production facilities are located in Germany, France, Spain, Turkey, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico. Its product range includes city and intercity buses, coaches and bus chassis.
Daimler Financial Services
The Daimler Financial Services segment supports the sales of the Company's vehicle segments in over 40 countries. Its product portfolio includes financing and leasing packages for customers and dealers, investment products and credit cards, as well as various mobility services, such as the moovel mobility platform, the mytaxi application and the car2go mobility concept. The segment also provides services, such as fleet management, the brokering of automotive insurance, banking services and various mobility services under the brands, moovel and car2go. The main areas of this segment's activities are Western Europe and North America.
