. ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Twin explosions killed at least 4 persons, including a senior police official in Pakistan's commercial hub Karachi on Thursday evening, a hospital official said. The injured were rushed to Jinnah hospital. According to initial reports three policemen were killed and several others were injured in the blasts, minutes after a first blast in outskirts of Karachi's garbage dumb. Three ambulances and one police van were also damaged. The first bomb blast, in a garbage dump, appeared to be a small explosion to lure security officials and rescue workers. The blast occurred on the eve of Eid-e-milad-un-Nabi (Birthday of Prophet Mohammad), which is celebrated with congregations and processions across the country every year to mark the birth of Prophet Muhammad. The Punjab government has announced that all mobile networks in Lahore will remain closed on Friday. There was no claim of responsibility but Taliban militants are known to operate inside the city. Pakistan's Taliban, who are close to al Qaeda, are blamed for many of the bombings across Pakistan, a strategic U.S. ally.
